12798 - Bromeliads (Garden) - 2016-09-01 (Dimensie: 670 x 850 pixels - Teller: 4912) Tillandsia tortilis 'Pueblo Hammeri' (Geladen als: Tillandsia tortilis) Verzamel locatie: New Zealand - Wellington - Anwyl Bromeliads Nursery, Pukerua Bay Fotograaf: Andrew Flower Opmerking: I don’t think the green effect is due to growing conditions, at least compared to the other T. tortilis AB971470 I have growing here from seed, see new comparative photos – it is a case of a brighter green epidermal layer and less dense leaf scales . Naming this taxon “T. tortilis” is commercially implausible: we have a plant labelled “T. Pueblo x hammeri” that has been in the trade for more than 30 years: now we have decided it is T. tortilis, but I don’t want to start selling it as “T. tortilis” and mislead collectors into buying it thinking it is something new if it is in fact a plant they already have under the old name. So I have registered it in BCR as “Pueblo Hammeri” (pending) so we will sell it as T. tortilis ‘Pueblo Hammeri’ plus a reference to the old name. Note that the T. tortilis AB971470 in the photos is grown from seed collect in Xichu by Len Colgan in 1997 (see caption on attached photo of plants growing side by side). Additional photo of leaves follows. (Verzonden: brom-l@science.uu.nl) Determinatie: Opgelost (Klik op de foto om te vergroten)
