; 0 rupicolous, terrestrial or epiphytic; 1 rosette infundibuliform. leaves green, canaliculate, 52 - 120 x 3–6 cm; sheath ovate, margins entire; blade green with dark green spots, linear-lanceolate, apex acuminate, margins spiney, spines chestnut brown, 1–7 mm long. inflorescence: peduncle erect, green, 30–56 cm long, shorter or equaling the height of the rosette, glabrescent, with 1 to 3 leafy amplexicaul bracts, imbricate or more or less lax, located in the upper third of the peduncle, 6,5–8 x 2 cm; fertile part compound, corymbose, many flowered (more than 10 flowers), 8–15 x 8–10 cm, obconic; primary bracts 5, green or whitish, sometimes with red apex, imbricates, suberect or recurved, 6,5–7 x 2 cm, ovate-lanceolate, apex acute to acuminate, margins serrated, spines chestnut brown, antrorse, lepidote on both faces, more denseon the adaxial face; primary bracts* similar to the involucral bracts, but smaller, sub-equaling the flowers, 3,3–4,6 x 1,6–2 cm; fascicles flat, short pedunculate, each fascicle with 2–7 flowers, linear-lanceolate in outline floral bracts membranaceous, greenish, ovate, 1,3–3,0 x 0,3–0,6 cm, little shorter than the sepals, apex acuminate and apiculate, margin serrated, glabrous. flowers subsessile, pedicel ca 0,4 cm long; sepals greenish, free, except in the base, asymmetrical, 2–3,5 x 4–6 cm, linear-lanceolate, apex acuminate, recurved, glabrous; petals clear yellow with greenish base, ca 2,4 cm long, oblong, obtuse apex, apiculate; petals* appendages ca 0,2 cm long, ligulate, fleshy, inflated, apex slightly lacerated. stamens: filament of the inner cycle, adnate to the base of the petals, those of the outer cycle free. pistil: stigma conduplicate spiral, ovary ca 1,3 cm long, trigonous, 3-ribbed, white, placentation axillary, ovules numerous, obtuse. fruits an ovoid berry, ca 1,3 x 0,7 cm, sepals persistent, grooved, 3-ribbed; seeds numerous, black, falciform, ca 1,2 mm long.
