Observations: —Canistrum flavipetalum is morphologically related to C. cyathiforme (Vell.) Mez, both having a very similar habit and green leaves with dark green spots. a long scape and also an outstanding characteristic, they have a structure where there is great variation in the length, with sometimes a short scape, included in the rosette, sometimes longer, and sometimes equaling the height of the leaves. These two species can be easily differentiated by the presence of pink or purple bracts and flowers with petals yellow-gold in C. cyathiforme, while in C. flavipetalum the inflorescence bracts are green to whitish and the petals are glear yellow with a green base. As well, in C. cyathiforme, the primary bracts are larger than 6 cm (vs. 3,3-4,6 cm), the floral bracts are also longer (4-5,1 cm vs. 1,3-3 cm) and the leaves are in general, wider.Edited from : Hoehnea 35(4): 537-541, 2 fig.,.
