Habitat: 250-350 m. Elev.

Etymology: This new species, is named in honor of Bromeliad collector Fernando Pereira de Azevedo, who lives in Arraial da Ajuda, Bahia. Fernando has been active in his local community, spreading the ideas of tht Sociedade Brasileira de Bromelias in relation to conservation . He has also introduced rare species to horticulture, as well as new species like the one presented here.

Phenology: The species flowers readily in cultivation, from December to February, and apparently there are at least five clones of diverse origins in cultivation today.
