Type: BOLIVIA: Departamento COCHABAMBA: Province Chapare, between San Rafael and El Palmar on humid slope of very humid piedmont rain forest, 65°30'S, 17°05' W, 600 m, 10 August 1997, R. Vasquez & M I. Vasquez 2792 (Holotype: LPB; isotypes: USZ, FR).

Habitat: on humid slope of very humid piedmont rain forest, 600-1550 m. Elev.

Etymology: This species is named after the Chapare region on the Andean foothills which is characterized by the most humid and very probably most plant species- (and endemic-) rich lowland rainforests of Bolivia.
