Habitat: forms great populations in the limestone Flora of the Parque Estadual de Terra Ronca

Etymology: The choice of the epithet of this new species pays homage to the collector, Eddi Esteves, for his contribution in the collection of specimens of Bromeliaceae, mainly, in Central Brazil.

Phenology: The only example in flower was from the type collection and it bloomed in cultivation in May. Examples in fruit were collected the month of July and September.
