Etymology: As in E. ambigua, the name of this species is a reflection of the confusion engendered by its unusual morphology, which is very far removed from the parameters of Canistrum to which it was originally assigned.

Phenology: Edmundoa perplexa flowers in the same period as E. ambigua, from December to March.
