Comments:
- Edmundoa perplexa is restricted to the higher elevations of the Serra do Mar, in Sao Paulo state. It is similar to E. ambigua in habit, but grows in the upper layer of the forest, especially in large trees, although it is not a heliophyte. Because it is very hard to find in the wild, this species is rarely seen in cultivation. It was introduced to horticulture less than four years ago and apparently only one clone exists.
The populations of this species are concentrated more to the south, at higher elevations than those of E. ambigua. The existence of overlapping geographic ranges of these two species could not be verified. —See Leme 1997a
