- Distribution & habitat
Nidularium serratum is terrestrial, rupicolous or epiphytic in the Atlantic slope forest from 200 to 1,700 m altitude. In Espirito Santo, it was found in the mountains of Pedra Azul as well as near the coast (Aracruz), while in Rio de Janeiro it lives in the southern part of the state, near the Sao Paulo border. According to the collector of the type specimen (Correia Araujo, pers. comm.), the plant was found growing on rocky substrate in a patch of Atlantic forest at the base of a geological formation known as Pedra Azul in Espirito Santo.
This species flowers in January and February. There are three clones in cultivation, including a direct descendent of the type specimen. —See Leme 2000a
