Abstract:—A new species of Alcantarea (Bromeliaceae, Tillandsioideae) from Pico do Forno Grande, Castelo, Espírito Santo, southeastern Brazil is described and illustrated based on plants kept under cultivation for decades. The new species presents a great ornamental potential. It has an unusual combination of characteristics, bearing leaves and peduncle bracts similar to Alcantarea delicata while the floral bract shape and texture, completely enfolding the calyx, as well as flower parts colors resemble Alcantarea patriae, from Espírito Santo. Photos of living plants, description, line drawings, and comments, which were complemented by personal communications from horticulturalists regarding the plants under cultivation are provided.
