Abstract:—Puya elviragrossiae, a new species from the inter-Andean valleys of Santa Cruz, Bolivia is described and illustrated. It is thought to be closely related to P. nana, an endemic species from the same region. The new species mainly differs by the elongate and paniculate inftorescence that surpasses the leaves, white P. nana has a subsessile, subglobose inflorescence hidden at the base of the rosutate leaves. Additionally, the new species is different regarding the shape, size and color of the floral bracts (among others, clearly shorter than the sepals, not almost equaling, dry papyraceous-rose, not more or less intensively pink) and sepals (30—35 x 8 mm, not 35—40 x 10 mm, obtong-lanceolate, not narrowly lanceolate, greenish or yellowish rose, not pink). It has been recorded at an attitude of 1,350 m, on the border of the altitudinal range of P. nana that is mainty found between 1,700 and 2,000 m.
