plant ca 50 cm tall. leaves 121–150 × 5–7 cm; sheath 22–26 × 15–16 cm, elliptic; blade green, flat, apical spine ca 1 cm long, margin strongly serrate, spines ca 4 mm long. inflorescence: peduncle 10–15 cm long, robust, included in the rosette, not exceeding the length of the leaf sheath, green; peduncle bracts 10–25 × 3.5–5 cm, linear-triangular, green, lepidote, coriaceous, apical spine ca 1 cm long, margins serrate; fertile part capituliform, ca 13 cm long, surrounded by involucral bracts which exceed the inflorescence; axis of the inflorescence short and thickened, conical with flowers maturing centripetally; floral bracts 5–5.3 × 1.3–2.5 cm, ovate to oblong, green, thick, erect, apically cuspidate, margins serrate from the middle to the apex, about as long as the calyx. flowers 4–4.5 cm long; sepals 2.5–2.7 cm long, greenish, white-lepidote, apically acuminate, lateral sepals strongly keeled, abaxial sepal not keeled; petals connate above the hypanthial tube, tube 1.5–1.6 cm long, laciniae 1.3–1.4 × 0.5–0.6 cm, oavl, green, apex apiculate. stamens: filament with two bilateral calluses, prominent at the base of the laciniae. stamens with the filaments of the two series partially adnate to the corolla tube, free for ca 4 mm, anthers 0.9–1 cm long, as long as the laciniae, pollen grains monosulcate, elliptic, exine rugulateperforate. pistil: style and stigma ca 2.3 cm long, stigma lobe margins digitate, reaching the base of the anthers; hypanthial tube ca 7 mm long; ovary 1.0–1.5 cm long, placenta axile with ovules in the upper half of the ovary; infructescence ca 18 cm long, completely enclosed within the rosette; etymology the specific epithet refers to the green colour of all the floral parts.
