plant stoloniferous, vegetatively propagating stolons; stolons stout, round, 22–32 cm long, 6–8 mm diameter, covered with brown, polystichous sheaths; rosettes funnel shape, up to 23 cm high. leaves about 20 per rosette, 20–30 cm long; sheath elliptic, about as long as the blades, subdensely lepidote with brown centered scales, 3.5–6 cm long, 5–6 cm wide; blade recurving, linear, caudate attenuate, 13–21 cm long, 15–32 mm wide, laxly serrate with dark antrorse spines, 2 mm long, sparsely pale-lepidote above, glabrous and lustrous beneath. inflorescence sunken in the center of the rosette, simple, few- flowered; inner leaves bright green, very similar to the outer leaves; floral bracts elliptic, 3 cm long, about equaling the sepals, cucullate, sparsely lepidote, very minutely serrate with soft spines. flowers: pedicel short and obscure; sepals green, elliptic, cucullate, 13–25 mm long, connate for 4 mm, sparsely lepidote; petals 30–34 mm long, white, the blades narrowly elliptic; scales acute apically, as long or slightly shorter than the filaments. stamens 22 mm long, as long as the style, making the stigma close contact with the anthers; anther apically bilobed. pistil: style 22 mm long, apically trilobed, with three laminae folded, conduplicate spiral, margins fimbriate; ovary slenderly cylindric, about 12 mm long; placentation apical; ovules short-caudate, epigynous tube conical short.
