plant caulescent, 30 cm long without the inflorescence; stem stout, dorsiventral. leaves in an infundibuliform rosette, 25–30 cm long; sheath ovate, 10 cm long, 7 cm wide, thin but rigid, densely punctulate-lepidote; blade narrowly triangular, 3–4 cm wide, covered with minute appressed white scales, the margins-truncate, 1 mm high in life. inflorescence: peduncle erect, 33 cm long, 6 mm thick, green; internodes 25–30 mm long, peduncle bracts erect, minutely white-lepidote, the lower imbricate, acuminate the upper equaling or shorter than the internodes, acute; fertile part simple, 12 cm long; rachis subgeniculate, green, glabrous; internodes 8 mm long; floral bracts secund with the basal flowers, suborbicular, acute, 25 mm long, exceeded by the sepals, densely nerved and sulcate, sparsely white-lepidote. flowers nocturnal, barely imbricate, pedicels, 10 mm long, stout; sepals ovate, obtuse, 20 mm long, 15 mm wide, ecarinate, green, glabrous; petals narrowly obovate, rounded and emarginate, 32 mm long, 12 mm wide, slightly reflexed at anthesis, bearing 2 irregularly denticulate 7 mm long scales at base. stamens included, wholly free.
