Abstract:—The authors describe and illustrate Hohenbergia flava Leme & Paula and Vriesea longistaminea Paula & Leme as new species of Brazilian Bromeliaceae, and also provide morphological data that distinguishes them from closer related taxa, H. catingae Ule and V. atropurpurea A, Silveira. respectively. The most important morphological characteristics presented by H. flava concern leaf shape, floral bract trichomes, sepals asymmetry, and petals color, while V. longistaminea is an outstanding new species due to its floral bract and sepal shape, petal appendage shape and size, and stamens that distinctly surpassing corolla length at anthesis.
