Distribution: BRAZIL; Minas Gerais,

Habitat: growing in sunny areas on rocky surfaces in "Campos Rupestres" vegetation, on iron-rich soil called "canga". It was observed forming small clumps scattered in the area, sharing the habitat with a large green-leafed Cryptanthus schwackeanus Mez and Dyckia rariflora Schult. & Schult. f.
