Vriesea muelleri
Locality: Brazil -
Photographer: Peter Tristram
Note: Plant was obtained in Brazil by US collector some years ago. So is it really Vr muelleri, if there is a Vr muelleri? (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
Identification: pending

- Identification: Uncle Derek (2014-03-05) ='Catarina'
- Check the BCR for details of the whole sad story (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note: Eric Gouda (2014-03-05) - I think: Vriesea muelleri Mez Botanischer Jahrbücher für Systematik, Planzengeschichte und Pflanzengeographie. In: Engler, A. 30 (Beibl. 67): 7 (1902) could be a good species, but has a subdense inflorescence with suberect flowers and floral bracts about equaling the sepals. Not like this plant. (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
- Add Note: Peter Tristram (2014-03-05) - If this is a collected plant what is it? I have 'Catarina' on it for now. When the seed being produced from selfing grows on, more might be revealed. As for the holotype, I agree that the stated parentage looks unlikely. Confusing! Catarina must be a valid species, but what? No doubt there will be more in this sad saga, UD. Vr catarinaensis?
