13759 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2018-03-21 (Dimension: 2030 x 1383 pixels - Counter: 9816) Tillandsia superba (Uploaded as: Tillandsia buseri?) Locality: Ecuador, Azuay Province - Road from Banos (Cuenca) to Soldados along the Rio Yanuncay at an elevation of 2800 meters. Also on Highway 35 8.2km south of Saraguro in Loja Province at 2883 meters altitude. Photographer: Jerry Raack Note: Growing epiphytically in the trees. Large plants to more than one meter high in bloom with heavy inflorescences. All plants were post anthesis. Very beautiful in florescence. I have attached 3 pictures. The first 2 are from the location near Cuenca, and the third is from south of Saraguro. I believe these are the same species. Note,, the bromeliad to the left with the yellow and red spike is Tillandsia oroyensis I believe. I'll post it separately.
