- One of the typical characters to distinguish T.francisci from T.fendleri is the dark floral bract apex as well as the extended peduncle of the infl., see See J. Bromeliad Soc. 53:193,197. T.clavigera has shorter and more narrow spikes that are strongly curved. The photo on page 211 of Esteve 2000 is T.francisci and not T.clavigera (Sent: brom-l@science.uu.nl)
