12009 - Bromeliads (Wild) - 2015-02-06 (Dimension: 1530 x 2050 pixels - Counter: 12251) Pitcairnia microtrinensis? Locality: St Lucia - Top of road leading to Enbas Saut Rainforest Trail in Edmunds Forest Reserve, St Lucia at approximately 770m (2600 ft). Growing terrestrially in a great mass on the road cut. Only one specimen in bloom at the time I was there 2 Feb 2015. Wet, rainforest area and very windy where it was growing. I collected seed from plants nearby. Note that some of the pictures may show white on the flowers, but this is simply glare from off the plant in full sun. All flowers and stems were yellow in color. Plant flowering about 1.2m tall. Note: Pitcairnia angustifolia was seen growing at lower elevations on drier slopes, but it is red in color.
