Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest in the world. It is an area with beautiful landscapes with the presence of terraced fields, some of which have been in continuous use for more than 1000 years. It is an area of scientific interest and a tourist destination that combines the richness of natural environments and villages with ancestral customs.
