Type: COLOMBIA. Guainía: Mahimachi (currently known as corregimiento departamental Paná-Paná, also previousy known as Campo Alegre), Serranía de Naquén, caño Culebra, cerro del helipuerto 16, 2°06´ N, 68°11´ W, 325 m, 2 Apr 1993, Madriñán & Barbosa 860 (holotype: COL!; isotypes: GH!, US!).

Habitat: this species grows on outcrops on exposed rocky formations, 325-650 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to Serranía de Naquén, the locality where the species grows.
