Distribution: COLOMBIA. Huila

Habitat: Growing terrestrial and forming more or less dense patches separated by way of islands between different rocky hills, 750-1400 m. Elev.

Etymology: The epithet specific refers to the Department of Huila, Colombia, where the species was found. With this epithet the authors wanted the species to become a conservation target for these dry inter-Andean valleys, which for a long time have been subject to strong processes of transformation for agricultural expansion, cattle ranching and the construction of major infrastructure projects.
