Distribution: Brazil. Goias

Habitat: terrestrial in sandy soils or on rocky outcrops, 700-1120 m. Elev.

Etymology: This interesting bromeliad species was found by Michael Esteves Pereira in July 1998. The authors name this species after him in gratitude for his help in the constant researches in the biome Cerrado.
