Platystachys polystachya is a synonym of:

Tillandsia polystachia (L.) L.

(subgen. Tillandsia)

Publ: Species plantarum, ed. 2 2: ed. 2. 410 (1762)

Type: a specimen at P, Plumier s n, without exact locality, West Indies is probably non existent, but it is typified by the Boerhave plate 873 (Renealmea spica multiplici, alia angustifolia), which can be considered original material used by Linnaeus.
