Distribution: BRAZIL; Bahia,

Etymology: The name chosen for this new species is based on the Latin word “erigens, tis”, meaning something that arise erect from the ground, portraying the typical, prominent erect habit of Orthophytum erigens, which is a terrestrial species forming large group of plants in the “Campos Rupestres”, Cerrado domain, of the Chapada Diamantina region.
