Habitat: Saxicolous on inclined rock surface among herbaceous to shrubby vegetation, 170-600 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name chosen for this new species is a clear reference to the unusually long and narrow scape bracts, which are the most striking distinctive characteristics of Alcantarea. longibracteata.
