Habitat: Growing in shaded humid sites in the Atlantic Forest, close to a waterfall (Medalon), forming large and dense groups of plants more often on rocky surfaces and sometimes on the forest floor., ca. 300 m. Elev.

Etymology: Forming a slender false stolon and is named after this phenomenon
