Distribution: BRAZIL: Ceara

Habitat: Terrestrially amidst rock outcrops in residual, disturbed, secondary decidual Tropical Forest, ca. 1140 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name of this new species is a clear reference to the State of Ceará, Northeastern Brazil, where a member of the genus Orthophytum was discovered for the first time.
