Distribution: BRAZIL; Minas Gerais,

Habitat: growing in campo rupestre vegetation, 1000-1200 m. Elev.

Etymology: the species was named after the rio Sao Francisco, one of the most important and threatened rivers from Brazil, which has its headwaters along the area occupied by the new species.

Phenology: Flowering time: December to early March.
