Distribution: BRAZIL;: Pernambuco,
Habitat: rupicolous, forming dense populations on sandstone in Serra das Torres., region of Catimbau National Park, with an area of 62,300 hectares, in the municipalities of Buique, Ibimirim and Tupanatinga, Pernambuco. The Vale do Catimbau was once the site of typical Brejo de altitude forest vegetation. Today, however, the area has been completely cut-over, except for patches of rupicolous vegetation in various states of conservation. Tillandsia catimbauensis can therefore be regarded as proof of the region's biological richness in the not too distant past.
Phenology: It flowers in Augustand its pollinators are still unknown.
