Distribution: MEXICO; GUATEMALA; COSTA RICA; EL SALVADOR;

Habitat: epiphyte or rarely lithophyte, growing in low deciduous forests, 0 - 1130 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet makes reference to the name of the type locality, Costa Cuca, located at the Quetzaltenango Department, on the Pacific slope of Guatemala.

Phenology: According to herbarium records and the observation of plants in the field and cultivation, flowering occurs between December and April, while fructification is recorded between July and December.
