Etymology: the name of the species is in honor of eminent botanist Doctor Jorge Waechter, collector of the plant in 1982, and professor in the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.
Phenology: the floral stem starts on October. Flowering: January-February. Fruiting: March to April.
