Distribution: BRAZIL; Rio Grande do Sul,

Habitat: forming dispersed clusters, growing in the sandstone or in the soil between the rocks.

Etymology: in honor of Dr Jones Caldas da Silva, physician and collector of the plant.

Phenology: Flowering from August to October, fruiting in December/January.
