Distribution: BRAZIL; Rio Grande do Sul,

Habitat: , epiphytic, at times on the ground, inhabits area of forest with araucarias, 1000 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name of this new species was requested by Mr. Joćo Luķs De Nardin, orchid grower of Viamao, RS, discoverer of the new species, wanting to honor his son Joćo Victor de Nardin who was born on the days of discovery.

Phenology: flowering between March to July Aechmea joannis
