Habitat: This epiphytic species was found in the remaining Atlantic Forest along the margins of the Peixe River, an area currently being heavily disturbed by man.
Etymology: this new species honors one of its collectors, the bromeliophile Rafael de Oliveira, who was responsible for important contributions, especially in field activities, as well as the discovery of several new species.
