Distribution: BRAZIL; Rio de Janeiro,

Habitat: exclusively inhabits the rocky and sunny areas of the tops of the hills, over 1000 m. Elev.

Etymology: from the Greek pseudo, false, the false V. atra, as both species were not distinguished from each other for many years.
