Etymology: This new species is named after the past naturalist and hummingbird specialist Augusto Ruschi, responsible for the creation of the Santa Lucia Ecological Reserve, where N. ruschii was found, and for the organization of the Museu Mello Leitao situated at Santa Teresa County.
