Distribution: Species widely distributed in East and West sectors of the northern portion of serra da Mantiqueira, in the States of E S and MG throughout the Eastern portion of ES. Forms very large populations and is protected in different conservation units, justifying their State of conservation as not threatened.
Etymology: The epithet alludes to the extensive branches of the inflorescence which, at the time of the description of the species, were the largest recorded for the genus.
Phenology: Collected in flower between June and February, with a peak in January. Ripe fruits collected in April, June, September and January.
