Habitat: epiphyte in oak forests, pine-oak forests, riparian forests, tropical deciduous forests, and tropical subdeciduous forests, 0-1250 m. Elev.

Etymology: Not specified in the protologue, but probably named because of the lax arrangement of the inflorescence branches
