Habitat: Epiphyte, 400-700 m. Elev.

Etymology: Canistrum seidelianum was named in honor of Alvim Seidel, a businessman from Corupi, Santa Catarina. This orchid and bromeliad hobbyist has made numerous botanical discoveries, many of which have been named after him in recognition of his important contribution to botanical research.

Phenology: As for the phenology of the species, what little data we have indicates a flowering period from November to April.
