Distribution: CHILE;
Habitat: Terrestrial, in shady, humid areas. Found in the Valdivian rain forest of the coastal ranges of the province Valdivia and in Chiloe island (lowland) forests, 54--600 m alt. Donoso et al. (1985) report the species as undergrowth in virgin Eucryphia cordifolia--Laurelia phillipiana forest on Chiloe.
Phenology: Reported to fruit in February. Armesta and Rozzi (1989) observed the seeds of G. landbeckii to be ornithochorous.
