Distribution: CHILE;

Habitat: Saxicolous on rocky bluffs along the shore, on hillsides as well as terrestrial in open woods and near riverbeds. Common in Valdivian rain forest, especially in moist or swampy and halfshady areas where it can grow in large groups., 0-304 m. Elev. img

Phenology: Anthesis is reported for February, April, June, August, October (in cultivation) and December. According to Harms (1930) it is visited by hummingbirds.
