Distribution: VENEZUELA; Bolivar,

Habitat: forms small clumps in shrub islands on exposed sandstone outcrops., 1,700-2,140 m. Elev.

Etymology: The species is named for Francisco Oliva-Esteva, bromeliad collector, author, conservationist, and co-collector of the type specimen.
