Etymology: I have great pleasure to finally make the name official in honor of our great friend and horticulturist, the late Roberto Burle Marx. An illustration of the wild material by that marvelous artist Margaret Mee is published as "Neoregelia sp. nov." in a book by the Fundacilo Botanica Margaret Mee, lnstituto de Botanica de Silo Paulo.
