Type: Weber in Liege Hortus (holotype, G; photo, GH), "Cafayate", Salta, Argentina. According to Castellanos (above), the type was collected by Schickendantz in 1886 or 1887 in the Sierras Calchaquies, on the Estancia Potrero Grande, 4000 m alt. The two localities are within 30 kilometers of each other.
