Distribution: MEXICO; Guerrero, Hidalgo, Michoacan, Morelos, Puebla, Oaxaca, Veracruz

Habitat: grows in high altitude, somewhat moist habitats, 1300-2400 m. Elev.

Etymology: The name is deduced from the Latin: plumosus = feathery. The leaves are equipped with long, prominent hairy scales that have the look of feathers.
