Type: West 8345 (holotype, UC), on bare gravelly ground of rocky grass-and-brushgrown slopes, within the more or less permanent cloudbelt from about 2500 m to top of Sama grade (east side), Cuesta de Sama, 30-35 km northwest of Tarija, Tarija, Bolivia, 12 Feb 1937.
