Distribution: COSTA RICA: Cartago

Habitat: Epiphyte in Premontane Moist Forest and Lower Montane Wet Forest, 1740 - 1800 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet “estrellensis” is derived from La Estrella, a village situated in the Talamanca mountain range in the province of Cartago, Costa Rica. This name acknowledges the geographic proximity of La Estrella to the type locality where the species was first discovered and collected

Phenology: Flowering in April and May. Anthesis occurs at night, with 1 to 3 flowers opening; corolla fading takes place the following morning.
