Habitat: epiphyte that inhabits forested areas within cloud forests, 2700 - 3500 m. Elev.

Etymology: The specific epithet refers to the region of “Alto Chicamocha” in the Department of Boyacá, Colombia

Phenology: Tillandsia altochicamochae was collected both in flower and fruit from September to February
